Village Independent Living
Using the resident's normal telephone connection is the logical
approach to providing emergency-call facilities within an Independent
Living Unit (ILU). That existing communication path is capable
of both-way voice and data, is reliable, is fully monitored
and maintained and is in daily use for normal communication
purposes. It's the perfect solution.
The
alternative of installing a duplicated cabling infrastructures
or providing one-way wireless links are poor substitutes when
it comes to caring for residents and protecting those carers
that attend to those residents. Furthermore one must recognize
formal standards relating to Personal Emergency Response System
(PERS) installations and procedures plus the various Occupational
Health and Safety (OH&S) Standards that are applicable
to ensure the wellbeing of carer staff.
Being
a purpose-designed telephone the Smart-Caller Help-Phone is
not only intended to provide comprehensive resident and ILU
fire and security monitoring, it also provides the resident
with solutions to overcome typical hearing loss, sight impairment
and limited mobility. It can even help those that tend to
be forgetful.
Carers
may also carry a Personal Emergency Transmitter (PET) whereby
the carers can also summon assistance throughout the village
location whilst within an ILU or whilst travelling to and
from ILUs.
