Hostel
Accommodation
Aged Care Hostel accommodation is that relatively low care stepping
stone between independent or family supported care and the predictable
future higher care categories. Accordingly the move from domestic
to hostel accommodation for an aged person can have upsetting
circumstances. The Smart-Caller Nurse-Call facilities therefore
provide a safe, secure and homelike environment and purposely
do not reflect a Hospital or Nursing home environment.
It
follows that the Smart-Caller approach to Hostel Nurse-Call
design is to minimise the visual significance of the system
whilst making it easy for both the resident and the carer
to locate and operate their required functions.
In
this respect the resident call-points are big-button versions
using top range, long life and highly reliable Clipsal Prestige
2000 assemblies, which fit comfortably within the building's
overall décor. Similarly we do not promote the use
of separate staff operated call-points, which cause visual
clutter and would invariably be accidentally activated by
residents.
Each
call-point may be easily reprogrammed to suit changing or
temporary priority requirements and each call-point has a
'Hidden Staff Assist' facility.
All
installed Smart-Caller Nurse-Call systems have one thing in
common; they are all capable of processing the total Ageing-in-Place
requirements as part of a planned up-grade path (without equipment
or cabling obsolescence).
A
single system can therefore be adjusted to accommodate requirements
ranging from Self-Care through Low, Medium and High Care with
add-on options to accommodate the special requirements for
Incontinence, Dementia, Psycho-Geriatric and staff Duress
management.
The
range of available systems include computer based and computer-less
versions using a choice of hard-wired, wireless, PABX phone
system connected in addition to infrared technologies. Some
systems exploit the benefits of all of these technologies.
